Human Factors in the defence industry
MBarron Consulting Ltd has undertaken a huge
range of assignments within the defence industry in land, aviation, naval
and joint service domains. These have ranged from the design of user interfaces for submarine operations
rooms, Task Analysis and Training Analysis for the future Royal Norwegian Navy,
to concept design ergonomics in support of future armoured fighting vehicles and
mine detection vehicles. We have conducted reviews of existing Royal Air
Force flight simulators, and designed the instructor station of the Challenger 2
tank driver simulator. We have worked on Radar, sonar, jammer, command
systems, combat systems, man-portable systems, vehicle mounted systems, para-drop
systems undertaking human factors
integration, and human factors tasks such as
task analysis,
user centred design,
workload modelling, physical ergonomics, alarm design, human error prediction,
training needs analysis and
safety reviews.
